MIRI, June 23: The construction of a 290 meter long drain to help alleviate the flooding issues at Kampung Sealine in Lutong is progressing well.

In fact, according to Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting cum Piasau State Assemblyman, the RM200,000 worth of project implemented under Piasau’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) is ahead of the scheduled.

“Today (Wednesday) we are visiting the site , and I’m very happy to see the project progress, because once completed, it would solve the flood woes in this area,” he said when met after inspecting the site in Lutong.

The construction began on March 17 and is expected for completion on Sept 19 this year.

For the record, every year during the rainy season, heavy rain has led to flooding in the area, resulting in property damage and inconvenience for the villagers. — DayakDaily
