According to Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, the community hall was one of the promises he made back in 2016, and once completed in 12 months time, can accommodate up to 500 people.

“This is what the 6,000 villagers here have been waiting for, a community hall to hold events such as meetings, weddings and many others activities,” he told a press conference after handing over the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to the selected contractor, at Darul Ehsan Mosque in Kampung Haji Baki here today.

Lo noted, with the futsal court completed, and the community hall under construction, a hawkers’ centre is also in the pipeline.

“Currently, we are waiting for the approval to commence the project (hawker center),” he added.

At the same time, Lo said some RM2.5 million has been spent for infrastructure in the said village, namely the community hall (RM1.2 million), futsal court (RM200,000), hawker center (RM600,000), and the cemetery lot (RM200,000).

“All this effort and funds to build the facilities comes from the good leadership of the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“For that, I would also like to encourage everybody in N13 Batu Kitang, to stay united with GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), and we will bring Sarawak into another level of achievement in the whole of Malaysia. We will be the shining example for all to see,” he added. –DayakDaily.
