Company director remanded in regards to Tanjung Manis riverbank filtration project released on bail

KUCHING, April 27: The Magistrate’s Court here released a director of a private company on bail after he was remanded for five days in regards to a riverbank filtration project worth RM1.3 million.

The 52-year-old suspect is a director of a private company located in Samarahan and was arrested by the the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on April 21 to assist with the investigation into the Tanjung Manis water supply project worth RM1.3 million.

He was remanded for five days by the MACC on April 22.


Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi released the 52-year-old suspect on the MACC bail of RM50,000.

He was alleged to have failed to comply with specifications stated in the contract of the riverbank filtration for Package 1 of Phase 1 of the water supply project after a false claim was also discovered.

The case is being investigated under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Act 2009. — DayakDaily
