KUCHING, Sept 11: Ambulance services at clinics in Puncak Borneo are being restructured following the lapse of the current operator.
Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin said he has met with Deputy Health Minister Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni and Sarawak Health Director Dr Veronica Lugah to address the matter.
“At the moment, we are restructuring the ambulance services in Puncak Borneo clinics.
“This is because the contract with the current operator has expired, and we are now conducting a re-tender process,” Willie told reporters during a 13th Malaysian Plan (RM13) townhall session with local community leaders held at Willie’s service centre at Sibatuh Hill, Jalan Borneo Heights here today.
Also present was Datuk Dr Yusal Yusoff, Executive Director of the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA), Universiti Malaya.
Willie further said the issue came to light following complaints from the public about the unavailability of ambulances during emergencies.
“There are ambulances that are idle and not properly maintained. This is a problem that needs to be ironed out,” he stressed.
On the upcoming SMK Puncak Borneo project, Willie said land siting has been completed, and the Federal Land Commission has submitted details of the parcel for compensation purposes.
“For SMK Puncak Borneo, the project is in the pipeline and is included under the RM13 plan,” he added. – DayakDaily
