Community cluster in Betong and coal mine cluster in Mukah contribute 66 new cases

KUCHING, Aug 12: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today announced the formation of two new clusters in Betong and Mukah, involving the local community and a workplace respectively.

According to SDMC in a statement, for Betong, the community cluster dubbed the Kampung Bungey 2 Cluster involved residents of a village in Kampung Hilir Bungey, Debak.

“A total of 86 people were screened from the cluster and 28 of the individuals, including the index case, were found positive, while five others were negative.


“As of today, a total of 26 new cases were also reported from the cluster and 53 others are still waiting for laboratory test results,” it said.

All of the positive cases from the cluster have been admitted to Betong Hospital and a quarantine and low-risk patient treatment centre (PKRC) in the district for further treatment and isolation.

Meanwhile, the SDMC said in Mukah, the Lubuk Bukut Cluster which is a workplace cluster, involved workers and their family members who are residing at the workers’ quarters of a coal mining site in Lubok Bukut.

“Out of 346 individuals who have been screened, 40 of them were found positive, including the index case, while 299 individuals are negative, and 25 others are still waiting for their test results.

“Two new cases were also reported from the cluster today, and all of the positive cases from the cluster were brought to Sibu Hospital and PKRC Mukah for treatment and isolation,” the committee said. — DayakDaily
