KUCHING, Dec 4: The Chief Minister’s Office has issued a statement labeling a viral post on social media as ‘fake news’.

A Facebook post under the account Borneo Voice which was uploaded yesterday quoted Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as purportedly saying: “I have no other choice but to dissolve the Barisan Nasional party in Sarawak and thereafter form a new state government from the local political parties…”

The said post is also being widely circulated in chatgroups.

“This office wishes to clarify that the Chief Minister has never uttered such a statement. The posting is fake news fabricated by certain people for reasons best known to themselves,” said the Chief Minister’s Office in the statement.
