KUCHING, March 26:  State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has extended Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) throughout Sarawak to Apr 12, 2021.

According to the statement of SDMC today, the decision was made in view of the situation that Covid-19 positive cases are high in Sarawak.

The last CMCO restriction ended Mar 30, 2021. Following the new announcement, it means Sarawak will undergo another two weeks of CMCO.

Meanwhile, Kampung Chupak (Kpg Chupak) in Serian has been placed under Enhanced MCO from Mar 25 to Apr 7 for a period of 13 days.

On Mar 24, SDMC announced Kpg Chupak’s new Covid-19 cluster following the identification of 57 confirmed positive cases related to a woman residing at Kpg Chupak.

The outbreak at Kpg Chupak was believed to be brought about by the 27-year-old woman who tested positive on Mar 9.

The woman works in Kuching and was believed to have infected through community infection and later spread it to family members and other individuals in Kampung Chupak through close and social contacts.

SDMC’s efforts of tracing and screening of her family members and close contacts successfully yielded 56 positive cases detected in Serian and Samarahan districts as of Mar 24. — DayakDaily
