KUCHING, Jan 27: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will reveal the details of the eighth Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid (BKSS 8.0) at 9.30am tomorrow (Jan 28).
At the said time, there will be a press conference held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia’s main meeting room.
On Jan 25, Abang Johari revealed that BKSS 8.0 involves RM285.47 million and will cover the first six months of 2022.
Adding up all the BKSS 1.0 to 8.0 packages, the Sarawak government will have spent at least RM5.5 billion to help Sarawakians weather the Covid-19 pandemic so far.
Looking back at the earlier packages, in 2020, BKSS 1.0 was first launched on March 23 and cost RM1.15 billion, followed by BKSS 2.0 worth RM1.1 billion on April 10, BKSS 3.0 amounting RM300 million on May 8, and BKSS 4.0 totalling RM104 million on Oct 23.
In 2021, BKSS 5.0 worth RM405 million was introduced on Jan 21, followed by BKSS 6.0 worth RM1.4 billion on May 28, and BKSS 7.0 worth RM800 million on Aug 4. — DayakDaily
