SIMANGGANG, Oct 21: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) will not be dissolved today, says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Refuting a local news report that the Sarawak DUN will be dissolved today, Abang Johari said he does not know when the dissolution will happen, adding that he felt astonished after reading the said report.

“How am I suppose to know? It’s not (within) my power. It’s the power of the (Yang-di-Pertuan) Agong. I cannot tell you ‘secara terperinci’ (in detail) because it is not my power,” he said during a press conference after launching the Sri Aman Development Agency (Sada) at Wisma Sada here today.

Abang Johari who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman was responding to questions from reporters about speculations that the Sarawak DUN will be dissolved today.

On GPS’ preparations to face the 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12), he said the time for the election is yet to come as Sarawak is under the Emergency Ordinance until February 2, 2022.

When asked whether he had sought an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, he revealed he had an audience with the King about the Covid-19 situation and Sada.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office in a press statement today explicitly stated that no such meeting by the chief minister is scheduled to happen today or tomorrow regarding the dissolution of the Sarawak DUN. — DayakDaily
