KUCHING, August 4: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has laughed off claims by `Parti Pribumi Sarawak (Pribumi)’ that six Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Members of Parliament (MPs) had agreed to join it.

Abang Johari, who is also PBB president and the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman, said he had never even heard of this party.

“How do they know? I also don’t know. No such thing,” he told reporters after attending Yayasan Sarawak Excellence Award 2018 ceremony at Swinburne University of Technology here today.

Not to be mistaken with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), the ‘party’ popped up on Facebook on Monday. In its Facebook page ‘Parti Pribumi Sarawak’, the page admin revealed the logo of the party: a sailboat with a red backdrop.

It stated that membership fee was RM2 per annum or RM120 for life membership.

In a post, the page admin claimed that Bersatu was considering joining forces with Pribumi. It also claimed Pribumi would be joining forces with six political parties to topple GPS. — DayakDaily
