CM impressed by Chung Hua Tudan for its 71 per cent Bumiputera students

MIRI, July 19: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is impressed by SJK(C) Chung Hua Tudan whose students is made up by 71 per cent of Bumiputera students.

“I want to congratulate SJK(C) Chung Hua Tudan’s Board of Management team led by (former Deputy Chief Minister ) Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam for their effort in forming the school in 2007.

“Despite being a Chinese school, 71 per cent of the students are Bumiputera,” said Abang Johari.

He thanked Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) for the establishment of the school which has brought students from various ethnic groups to come together under one roof.

Abang Johari said this at the Opening Ceremony of a new school block cum Earthbreaking of a multi-purpose School Hall of SJK(C) Chung Hua Tudan here today.

At the event, Dr Chan as the school board of management chairman received contributions from various private firms who pledged to help build the school’s multi-purpose hall.

For the construction of the multi-purpose hall, private companies and individuals present had in total pledged a contribution of RM340,000.

Shin Yang Sdn Bhd pledging RM50,000; NAIM Group of Companies, RM 50,000; Samling Strategic Corporation Sdn Bhd, RM 50,000; Permy Development Sdn Bhd, RM 50,000 and IG Training Centre, RM 30,000.

From individuals, Senadin Assemblyman who is also Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin pledged RM 50,000; Piasau Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, RM 30,000; and Kapitan Ngieng Hok Diing, RM 20,000 and Dr Chan, RM10,000.

Also present were Chairman of Naim Holdings Berhad Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sepawi and former Miri Mayor Adam Yii. — DayakDaily
