KUCHING, Nov 27: Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman are likely to defend their Demak Laut and Tupong constituency seats, respectively, in the 12th Sarawak Election.

This followed Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s positive innuendo that both incumbents would continue to become elected representatives in their constituencies.

He was addressing dignitaries at the start of his speech at the Friendly Neighbourhood (JKM) dinner gathering held at UCSI Hotel in Kuching tonight and said, “…The ones who will continue to become YBs (representatives) Hazland and Fazzrudin, Insya-Allah.”

Dr Hazland of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) won the Demak Laut seat in the 2011 Sarawak Election against Ali Hossen Abang of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) with a majority of 3,752 votes.

He then defended his seat in the 2016 Sarawak Election with 8,539 votes against Mohamad Fidzuan Zaidi of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), who only secured 1,157 votes.

Meanwhile, Fazzrudin (PBB) won the Tupong seat with 10,942 votes in the 2016 Sarawak Election against Nurhanim Mokhsen of PKR, who won 2,887 votes. — DayakDaily
