Close shave for Francis Harden in Simanggang, wins by 175 votes

KUCHING, Dec 18: It was a close shave for Datuk Francis Harden Hollis from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) who managed to retain Simanggang with a mere majority of 175 votes.

Harden, who garnered 3,954 votes was met with fierce competition from Wilson Entabang who polled 3,779 votes.


The other two contestants namely Leon Jimat Donald from Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Peli Aron from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) managed to poll 212 and 135 votes, respectively.

Harden will enter his sixth term as Simanggang assemblyman.

This election is by far his worst result; in the 2016 Sarawak Election, he won by a majority of 1,388 votes in a four-cornered fight.

He polled 4,094 votes against independent candidate Ngu Piew Seng who garnered 2,706 votes, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Norina Umoi Utot’s 580 votes and Leon Jimat Donald’s 695 votes. — DayakDaily
