KUCHING, Oct 7: Green energy technology and collective efforts to combat climate change are among the main issues discussed as the United States strengthened cooperation with the Sarawak government in several sectors and areas of interest.
The United States (US) Ambassador to Malaysia Brian McFeeters and representatives from the US Embassy on Thursday (Oct 6) paid a courtesy call on Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the first courtesy visit from McFeeters was aimed at discussing several matters including cooperation between the US Embassy and the Sarawak government.
“Among the main issues discussed include the energy and climate crisis as well as things both the government and US companies can cooperate in.
“Other than that, we also discussed youth exchange programmes and sub-education programmes which are active in Sarawak,” he told reporters when met.
McFeeters also expressed that he was very happy to be in Sarawak and looked forward to meeting officials from sectors including forestry, energy, Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) as well as visiting the Borneo Cultures Museum.
Later in the day, Premier also received a courtesy call from the High Commissioner of New Zealand Pam Dun as well as the organising committee of the upcoming International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference 2022. — DayakDaily
