KUCHING, Aug 13: Cinemas, cybercafes and gyms are finally allowed operate again, but only for districts in Sarawak other than Kuching, Lundu, Bau, Serian, Tebedu, Samarahan, Asajaya and Simunjan.

In the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) outlined under Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) and issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, cinemas and cybercafes were no longer listed in the Negative List.

Meanwhile, night clubs, pubs, karaokes, centres providing massage, spa, reflexology, wellness and beauty services, studios for yoga, zumba and related activities continue to remain prohibited Statewide.

The same goes to all social activities such as feasts, weddings, engagement parties, receptions, ‘aqiqah’, ‘tahlil’, prayer ceremonies and any functions that call for crowds where physical distancing is difficult to implement.

However, tourism and cultural activities are no longer banned for regions under NRP Phase 3 as SDMC capped the attendance rate at 50 per cent, depending on the capacity of the respective premises or a maximum of 100 participants at any one time. — DayakDaily
