Chung Hua Miri secondary school wins gold at World Robot Olympiad 2024 in Turkey

KUCHING, Dec 4: Chung Hua Miri secondary school has made Malaysia proud by clinching multiple medals at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2024 International Final held in Izmir, Turkey, from November 28 to 30.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, the school achieved an impressive haul of one gold, one silver, one bronze medal, and an Award of Excellence, establishing itself as one of the main contributors to Malaysia’s victory as the overall champion in this year’s competition.

The Robomission Junior team emerged as champions, securing the gold medal, while the Romission Senior team earned the silver medal. The Robosport team took home the bronze, and the Future Innovators team finished fourth with an Award of Excellence.

This year’s tournament, themed ‘Earth Allies’, saw 3,116 participants from 87 countries designing robotics innovations to help preserve the environment.

Malaysia’s contingent excelled as the overall champion, having secured two golds, three silvers, one bronze, and three Awards of Excellence across eight categories.

Director General of Education Malaysia, Azman Adnan commended the achievement, describing it as proof of the nation’s exceptional talent in robotics and technological innovation.

“This success proves that Malaysia possesses an exceptional talent in the field of robotics and innovation technology,” he said upon welcoming the team back to Malaysia. — DayakDaily
