KUCHING, Feb 1: Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Chong Chieng Jen will be holding a Chinese New Year open house at SJK Chung Hua No. 3 here on the first day of the celebration (Feb 5).
The Stampin MP is inviting all Democratic Action Party (DAP) compatriots, members and supporters to celebrate the festive season together with him at the school’s main hall from 10am to 3pm.
He also extended invites to the public, disadvantaged groups and organisations, Sarawak State Cabinet members, elected representatives and political leaders from both sides of the political divide.
“Let’s put aside our political differences to share this happiness and joyous occasion together with the public.
“In this secular and multicultural society, everyone is welcome with open arms to come to celebrate this joyous occasion, regardless of race, religion or belief,” he said in a statement.
Chong, who will be organising this event for the first time in his capacity as deputy minister, wishes to take this opportunity to extend his Chinese New Year greetings and mingle with the public while having informal dialogues during the open house.
In addition to the offering of food to the guests, various forms of entertainment have been lined up throughout the celebration, including lion dance and traditional Chinese music performances. — DayakDaily
