KUCHING, July 30: Assistant Minister of Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol has slammed Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak and its chairman Chong Chieng Jen for creating and provoking hostility between Sarawak and federal governments.

“Maybe Chong was trying to his best to impress his master in Malaya to the extend he has forgotten about protecting Sarawak rights and interests,” he said in a press release today.

Abdullah was commenting on Chong’s statement saying the next state polls, due in mid-2021, would be a government-to-government fight as Pakatan was now ruling at the federal level.

Chong, who is also Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, was also quoted saying Pakatan is the big government and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is the small government so “let us fight without fear”.

“GPS is an elected state government and PH is also an elected federal government. But why Chong (has to) say ‘let’s fight’ and boastfully declared the next state election as the ‘Battle of Century’ between federal and state government?” he questioned.

“Chong’s statement proves that he doesn’t care much about protecting Sarawak rights and interests. Chong and the rest in PH Sarawak only focus on helping their Malaya masters to ‘colonise and rule’ Sarawak,” he said.

Noting that PH Sarawak always accused GPS for acting difficult to deal with, Abdullah thus hopes all Sarawakians will read and examine what Chong had said which reflected their true devilish nature.

“Chong and PH Sarwak are actually the real wicked lots that created that hostility between Sarawak and federal government,” he criticised.

However, Abdullah said some credits must be given to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman Baru Bian, who is also the Works Minister, who has wisely advised PH leaders to stop behaving like an opposition and instead start working like a functioning federal government.

“YB Baru frustration is fully understood because he seems to be not getting enough funding from MoF (Ministry of Finance) for him to effectively functioned as a federal minister whose portfolio is all about national infrastructural developments,” he said.

“Sometimes I also wonder who is more powerful or in control in the federal administration, whether it is the Prime Minister (Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) or Minister of Finance (Lim Guan Eng)?” he asked.

While Chong had boasted about PH’s economic track record, Abdullah said he however did not tell the people that those revenues were secured not from foreign or local investments but by disposing many national strategic interests or equities in many government-linked companies and assets.

“He also claimed that PH federal government has succeeded in reducing national expenditure, but he did not reveal that it was achieved after cancelling many approved projects especially in Sarawak, civil service retrenchment, as well as cutting essential budgets to various agencies that caused difficulties for many federal departments to function efficiently,” he explained.

He opined that everybody should now know the chaotic situation in the Peninsula Malaysia as there were infighting over leadership while the elements of hatred, racism and sedition were unbecoming amongst the people.

“As such, if politician like Chong and his Malaya political masters are allowed to capture and rule Sarawak, I can only wish all Sarawkians the best of luck,” he added. — DayakDaily
