KUCHING, Sept 30: State Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen today reminded Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang to provide a detailed list of projects for which they have allocated funds, including grants, for the year 2017.

He said he had been requesting Dr Sim and Lo to do so repeatedly in the past, but till now they have failed to do so.

“I’m not referring to allocations under their (Dr Sim) ministry or the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP, of which Lo is chairman). I’m just questioning how they spent their Minor Rural Project (MRP) and Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds. They have to give us a detailed list of who received how much and for what for the year 2017,” Chong told a press conference at the Democratic Action Party (DAP) headquarters here this afternoon.

Chong explained that last year, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had stated clearly that all their 72 assemblypersons would each be receiving RM5 million of RTP funds, on top of RM2 million in MRP funds. The MRP fund for each assistant minister is RM3 million, while for each minister is RM4 million.

All in all, he said, each Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) elected rep would get between RM7 million to RM9 million.

Chong said Dr Sim, who is a minister and assemblyman, would get a total of RM9 million and Lo RM7 million for 2017, and the spending of the allocations was at their discretions.

“They (Dr Sim and Lo) still owe us a list of project allocation that they have given out to the respective associations and respective physical projects that they have applied and carried out in their areas for the year 2017,” he said. — DayakDaily
