KUCHING, Nov 17: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) manifesto for the 15th General Election (GE15) is unreliable as it remains unknown whether it can deliver its promises, says Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

He said as GPS must work with other political coalitions to form the government, GPS will need to get consent from its future partners on their offers to the people of Sarawak.

“In gist, the difference between what PH offers and what GPS offers in their respective manifestos is that PH will implement the promises if we form government where as for GPS, it will have to discuss with its future partners on their offers if they form the government.

“Even if GPS forms the government with other parties or coalitions, whether it can deliver on its promises is still unknown,” said Chong at a press conference at Sarawak DAP headquarters here today.

Meanwhile, Chong who is the DAP candidate for P196 Stampin urged voters in Sarawak to return at least 10 seats namely Mas Gading, Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Puncak Borneo, Saratok, Selangau, Sibu, Lanang, Sarikei and Miri to PH.

That way, he explained, PH will have the chance to hold the majority with at least 112 out of 222 seats and form the government to continue their reforms.

“This is an election to decide the future of the country, whether we want to return to the old way of Umno/BN (United Malays National Organisation/Barisan Nasional) or whether we will continue with the reforms that were cut short after the Sheraton Move.

“As part of Malaysia, we appeal to the people of Sarawak to come together with the rest of the country to affect change and set our country back on the right direction for generations to come,” added Chong.

Also present at the press conference was DAP candidate and incumbent for P195 Bandar Kuching Dr Kelvin Yii. — Dayakdaily
