KUCHING, Dec 2: Kota Sentosa incumbent Chong Chieng Jen will be contesting not in Kota Sentosa, but in Padungan in the upcoming 12th Sarawak State Election (PRN12).

Other than his own candidacy, Chong also announced the names of five Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidates for Kota Sentosa, Pending, Batu Kitang, Stakan, and Batu Kawah during the writ handover ceremony at DAP headquarters here today.

With the Sarawak DAP chairman changing his course, DAP will field one of Chong’s special assistants Michael Kong Feng Nian in Kota Sentosa.

While Pending will continue to be defended by its incumbent Violet Yong Wui Wui who has served the constituency for three terms since 2006, Batu Kitang will be contested by Sarawak DAP Batu Kitang branch chairman Abdul Aziz Isa.

Stakan, on the other hand, will be DAP Youth (DAPSY) Kuching secretary Leslie Ting Xiang Zhi’s battleground in the upcoming polls.

Meanwhile, Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii is under the limelight as he is going to contest in Batu Kawah against its incumbent Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also the Minister for Local Government and Housing. — Dayakdaily
