KUCHING, Sept 23: The Federation of Chinese Associations of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions donated medical equipment worth RM14,000 to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today.

The money to purchase the equipment comprising six stainless steel trolleys and 20 stainless steel drip stands was raised by the Women’s Section of the federation.

Women’s Section chief Georgina Chong thanked Datin Amar Kathryn Wee, Boon Seng and Satok Furniture for their generous contribution to the noble cause, which is aimed at strengthening facilities at various quarantine centres set up outside SGH to help fight Covid-19.

Earlier, the Women’s Section had also donated over 20 units of oxygen concentrators, drip stands and oxygen humidifiers to SGH via the ‘Breathe for Love’ anti-pandemic campaign.

Today’s handover to SGH deputy hospital director Dr Lee Yew Fong was witnessed by the federation’s executive advisor Michael Teo and president Dato Richard Wee.

Among those present were the federation’s secretary-general Lim Ah Ted and Disaster Relief Team chief Kapitan Ethan Tan.

Meanwhile, the federation’s Disaster Relief Team has been reaching out to needy families affected by the pandemic since last year to distribute food aid and face masks.

The team has also rendered support to medical frontliners, hospitals, health clinics, one-stop swab centres and quarantine centres via donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical equipment. — DayakDaily
