KUCHING, June 5: The supply of chicken eggs in the Bintulu division is now stable after experiencing a shortage due to high demand during the Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that the shortage of chicken eggs was not a significant issue because it occurred for only a day or two.

“However, the situation became stable when farmers restocked the supply every two days,” he said after visiting Farley Supermarket in Bintulu on Friday (June 3) as part of the implementation of the 2022 Gawai Festival Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP).

In addition, he stated that the total consumption of eggs in Sarawak is 2.2 million per day, while the total production is 2.5 million per day.

Meanwhile, he expressed pride in the management of the Farley Bintulu Mini Supermarket, which sells chicken, chicken eggs, and chicken wings at prices lower than the ceiling price.

Also present were KPDNHEP Sarawak chief enforcement officer Peter J Berinus Agang and Farley Supermarket manager Eiyen Lau. — DayakDaily
