SIBU, Aug 17: Homebuyers in Sarawak can now check a government-maintained list of troubled housing projects before buying, as the State moves to strengthen transparency and protect buyers from problematic developments.

According to Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, his ministry is currently identifying problematic projects to be listed as troubled housing projects.

He said the list is updated from time to time through the ministry’s website under the MyHousing section and also includes the names of the developers responsible.

“This allows members of the public to know which projects have been categorised as troubled housing projects and the parties responsible for developing them,” he said when met by reporters after attending the Sibu Central Market Hawkers’ BBQ event here on Sunday (Aug 16), as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

Tiang said projects whose problems have been resolved, completed, or returned to schedule will be removed from the list.

Meanwhile, Tiang, who is also Pelawan assemblyman, said the event served as a platform for him to interact with the hawker community from Sibu Central Market, Taman Rejang and Taman Selera Muhibbah in Sungai Merah. — DayakDaily
