Her journey began in commercial banking, providing services to high-profile clients and listed companies. Tsen’s unique expertise in branding and management, combined with her passion for education, saw her transition from finance into corporate training.

With over two decades of experience, Tsen has trained numerous professionals and developed programmes that now contribute to the World Civility Index (WCI).

The WCI, developed in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), serves as a global measure of civility, emotional intelligence, and a cross-cultural competence.

Tsen’s Social Refinement Programme, which integrates the principles of WCI, enables participants to earn civility points recognised by the UN.

The Social Refinement Programme supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by emphasising the role of soft skills in creating a more inclusive and respectful world.

Tsen’s accessible soft skills training, leveraging on SDG 4 which focuses on quality education, helps participants succeed both personally and professionally whereas SDG 5, which promotes gender equality, is reflected in how the programme breaks traditional gender roles in etiquette, empowering people to build inclusive environments.

Aligning with SDG 8, Tsen’s Social Refinement Programme also supports decent work and economic growth by refining the soft skills needed for leadership and collaboration. Most importantly, her focus on civility ties into SDG 16, promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions through respectful interactions and professionalism.

In recent years, Tsen’s work has gained international recognition through her involvement with the IITTI (International Soft Skills Standards and Testing), the testing centre responsible for awarding points for the WCI.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in her career. In December 2022, Tsen spearheaded a programme that saw a Sarawak government department become the first to earn WCI points for its young employees. This achievement highlighted the importance of soft skills for personal and professional development and as a cornerstone of global cooperation and respect.

Tsen’s programmes are designed for professionals at any stage of their career, whether they are executives refining their leadership presence or young professionals building their personal brand.

Through this work, Tsen contributes to the creation of more peaceful, just, and sustainable institutions worldwide.

The WCI and IITTI’s partnership with the UN has further strengthened Tsen’s belief that civility and soft skills are essential for creating a more respectful, equitable global community. — DayakDaily
