KUCHING, May 31: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) Southern Zone publicity director Chai Kueh Khun urges the State government to clarify on the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19 following the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the total lockdown announced by the federal government.

He believed that there should just be one SOP and the different SOPs released by the State government and the federal government further confused the public to follow them.

“Which is correct and what must be adhered to and complied with? In such a pandemic which is hitting the entire Malaysia, shouldn’t there be just one SOP?

“With such contradictions in the SOP procedures, many Sarawakians are in total confusion, causing many people rushing to the supermarket to buy food rations and daily needs, and only to find out the lockdown is not much different from the day before,” he said in a statement.

Chai added that with the authority having the experience from last year in handling, administering and managing MCO, they should come out with clear, precise and easy to understand instructions to follow.

Beside, he opined that Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) should come up with SOPs in English and Chinese languages to cater for different readers.

On the other hand, Chai urges the government to expedite the Covid-19 vaccination programme as most of the people have registered but yet to receive notification for their appointments.

On the latest financial assistance package Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 6.0 announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg last Friday, he opined that some of the assistance could be channeled to the suppliers of the supply chain so that the cost of raw materials can be maintained to control the price increase at the end of the supply chain, thus benefiting more population with more spending power. — DayakDaily
