KUCHING, Dec 17: Kampung Pichin, Serian will be celebrating the solar eclipse, Boxing Day and and a belated Christmas on Dec 26 in style and grandeur.
Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot is extending an invitation to all villagers within the vicinity of Kampung Pichin to join him in the triple celebration at his residence — Leort Garden — on the day.
The function which is organised by Riot’s Service Centre in collaboration with Sultan Iskandar Planetarium Kuching will start at 7.30am.
The activities lining up for participation include aerobic dances, traditional dances, a live band and other forms of entertainment such as ‘Biragung’ (tradition Bidayuh gong beating), and dances such ‘Bilanggi’, ‘Ngajat’ and ‘Begendang’ (traditional Malay singing and drum beating).
Riot when contacted said he is making a lot of effort to try to make the occasion “something to be cherished and remembered”
“How often do you have a solar eclipse, a very rare phenomenon falling on the same day as Boxing Day? This happens only once in a blue moon and we must celebrate.
“Let us make it a day to remember and talk about for many more years to come. And so I would like to invite all villagers within the vicinity of Kampung Pichin to come to celebrate with us,” said Riot.
He said the invitation is extended from him as “a kampung boy”, where he just wants to provide a platform where village folk can come together to witness the rare phenomena of a solar eclipse and at the same time, celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day. — DayakDaily
