SIBU, March 14: Security at the Taman Muhibbah Food Court will be further enhanced with the installation of additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said that the decision was made to address incidents of theft at the food court.

“After conducting a reinspection of the Taman Muhibbah Food Court and discussions with the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), we have decided to install more surveillance cameras and upgrade the existing monitoring system to ensure comprehensive surveillance of every corner of the food centre,” he said.

Tiang who is Pelawan assemblyman added that a monitoring room would also be set up to improve surveillance efficiency and ensure timely detection and handling of any suspicious activities.

“Through these measures, we hope to significantly reduce theft incidents and ensure that businesses and customers at the Taman Muhibbah Food Court can enjoy a safer and more secure environment.

“This is not only a commitment I made when the Taman Muhibbah Food Court opened but also a demonstration of our responsibility for community safety,” he stressed. — DayakDaily
