Cash prizes, recording opportunities await winners of Kuching’s Got Talent 2024, auditions on July 6–7

KUCHING, May 21: The Kuching Got Talent contest, organised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), is returning for its 10th edition this year as part of the 2024 Kuching Festival Food Fair (KFFF).

According to MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, the auditions for Kuching’s Got Talent 2024 will take place on July 6 and 7 at the MBKS Auditorium and are open to all who wish to participate.

The semi-finals and grand finale are set for Aug 10 and 11 and will be held at the MBKS Theatre (Open Stage), located next to the MBKS Building.

“In addition to the cash prizes totalling RM22,600, the winners may receive a ‘ticket’ to register with a recording company.

“The champions of the ‘Singing Category’ and ‘Dancing Category’ (13-years-old and above) will receive a trophy and a cash prize of RM3,000.

“The first runner-up will receive a trophy and RM2,000, while the second runner-up will receive a trophy and RM1,000. The seven consolation prizes, consisting of trophies and RM100 each, are for those who qualify for the top 10 in the semi-finals,” he told reporters during a press conference today at the MBKS Council Chamber here.

As per a press handout, for the ‘Singing Category’ (12-years-old and below), the champion will receive a trophy and RM1,500. The first runner-up will receive a trophy and RM1,000, while the second runner-up will receive a trophy and RM500. The seven consolation prizes, consisting of trophies and RM100 each, are for the next seven best performances.

Meanwhile, for the ‘Other Talents Category’, the champion will receive a trophy and RM2,000. The first runner-up will receive a trophy and RM1,500, while the second runner-up will receive a trophy and RM800. The seven consolation prizes, consisting of trophies and RM100 each, are for the next seven best performances.

Wee also said the Kuching Got Talent contest allows participants to showcase their talents in singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, acting, acrobatics, martial arts, or any other performing arts in a unique, creative manner.

The press handout further stated that the competition will be judged by local industry experts, music producers, famous singers, dancers, choreographers, and managing directors from record companies.

“There are no gender, age, or race restrictions for this talent show. Individuals and groups can enter the competition. Applicants under the age of 18 must have their parent or guardian’s signature.

“Hard copies of the application form can be obtained at the MBKS lobby (security counter) while online applications form can be downloaded from the MBKS official website (https://mbks.sarawak.gov.my). All applications must be received on or before 4.30pm on July 1 (Monday).
