Case management for teacher-student sexual assault case set for July 6

KUCHING, June 19: A primary school teacher claimed trial to sexually assaulting a 12-year-old male student at the school hostel.

The 46-year-old accused was charged with five charges. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The Sessions Court Judge allowed him to be released on bail of RM 10,000 and ordered the accused not to contact the victim.

Case management of the case is set for July 6.

He is accused of allegedly sexually assaulting the 12-year-old victim between April to August, 2019 at the school hostel.

He was charged with four charges under Section 14(a) and Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children 2017, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 20 years and fine.

He was also charged under Section 377E of the Penal Code for requesting the victim to perform anal sex on him.

Under Section 377E of the Penal Code, he may face imprisonment term between three years and 15 years and whipping.
