Car crashes into the drain after driver tries to avoid animal

KUCHING, May 10: A man received five stitches to his head after crashing his car into a drain to avoid an animal.

The victim was travelling along Lundu-Bau road towards the city when the incident happened at around 9.30pm yesterday.

“According to the victim, he was manoeuvring a sharp corner when an animal jumped out to cross from the right side of the road.

“It was believed that he had lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the drain at the side of the road to avoid hitting the animal,” Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said.

The victim suffered head injuries and was sent to Bau Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist suffered heavy injuries after colliding head-on with a car at Jalan Bako here today.

It was understood that the victim, in his 20s, was heading towards Demak Laut when the incident happened at around 4pm.

According to sources, the victim was thrown off his motorcycle following the collision and suffered head injuries from the impact.

The unconscious victim was later rushed to Sarawak General Hospital for immediate treatment. — DayakDaily
