SIBU, July 6: The Kumang Competition of Borneo Dayak Cultural Festival (BDCF) 2022 in conjunction with the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) here is making a return after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In line with this, Dayak women in the State who are still single and aged 18-30 are invited to participate in the competition which will be held on July 18 at Sibu Town Square Phase I.
“Contestants must have a height of not less than 5 feet 2 inches and are required to use ‘Ngepan Iban'(traditional attire),” said a spokeswoman.
According to her, a qualifying round will be held for screening if more than 10 participants register.
The winner will bring home RM2,000 along with a crown, sash, trophy, hamper and flowers while the ‘Lulong’ (runner-up) will receive RM1,500 along with a sash, trophy and hamper.
‘Selinggar Matahari’ (third place) will win RM1,000 along with a sash, trophy and hamper.
“The fourth and fifth place winners will each get RM500 along with a sash. The other five participants will receive a consolation prize worth RM200,” she said.
All participants will be judged based on beauty (50 per cent), attire (30 per cent) and physique/self-confidence (20 per cent).
The closing date for entries is July 11, 2022 at 5pm.
