Calling all filmmakers: Sarawak Tourism Short Video Contest offers RM10,000 top prize

KUCHING, June 18: The Sarawak Tourism Short Video Contest 2024 is now accepting submissions, with RM10,000 in cash offered to the first prize winner.

Organized jointly by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) and the Kuching Filming and Publishing Association, and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, the contest aims to showcase Sarawak’s tourism industry through short videos.

Filmmakers, videographers, YouTubers, and students from Sarawak are invited to participate by submitting their entries by Oct 31, 2024.

Participants stand to win one of five cash prizes, with the first prize being RM10,000.

A total cash prize pool of RM24,000 is up for grabs, with the second and third prize winners receiving RM6,000 and RM3,000, respectively.

There are also five consolation prizes of RM1,000 each.

According to a media release, videos should be between three to six minutes long, highlighting Sarawak’s diverse cultures, scenic spots, historical sites, and unique experiences such as food, adventures, and festivals.

Now in its third edition, the contest is a continued efforts to boost Sarawak’s tourism industry and stimulate local economic growth.

Previously, ACCCIS successfully organised similar contests which received fascinating entries from local participants.

This year, the contest is free for all Sarawakians to participate. To submit entries, participants can use the QR Code or Google Form Link available here, where the contest terms and conditions can also be accessed.
