KUCHING, Jan 9: Senator Robert Lau is urging those who attended the funeral at Rh Langi to get their Covid-19 tests at the nearest clinic immediately.
“Those who attended the funeral at Rh Langi, which is situated 15 kilometres from the junction of Jalan Teku, Pasai Siong are urged to do the (Covid-19) tests,” he said.
He was referring to the incident earlier this morning where 37 new Covid-19 cases were reported by the Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) relating to the longhouse at Pasai Siong, Sibu.
The index case of the cluster, Case 1,175 was attending her father’s funeral from Dec 29 to 31 while under home quarantine.
Her Covid-19 test results when she arrived at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) before travelling to Sibu were negative, but her second test on Jan 6 showed otherwise.
The day she was found positive of Covid-19 on Jan 7, 74 individuals who were at Rh Langi were swabbed and 37 were found positive yesterday (Jan 8) at 10.30pm.
Following this report, Lau said Rh Langi and seven other nearby longhouses along the same road are currently under lockdown.
“The Sibu public is advised to comply with SOPS (Standard Operating Procedures) and reduce any non-essential outdoor activities.
“There is no more home quarantine for those coming back to Sibu from overseas,” he asserted in one of his Facebook posts today.āDayakDaily
