SIBU, Nov 2: Bodybuilding enthusiasts and buffs are in for a treat as the second Mr Kenyalang bodybuilding championship is set to return on November 17.

Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (SDBWA) president Chia Soon Seong in a press statement said this year marks the second edition of the bodybuilding and physique championships that cater specifically for Sarawak athletes.

“We hosted the first event last year, which received an encouraging response from many parties.

“We strive to make Mr Kenyalang our annual signature event — one that unearths potential bodybuilding talents and also highlights the present line-up of Sarawak athletes,” he said.

“We welcome all Sarawak bodybuilding fans to come and support the contestants,” added Chia.

Mr Kenyalang 2018 is supported by Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) as its technical advisor and Borneo Bodybuilding Supplement (BBS) as its key sponsor.

The championships comprise the bodybuilding category, which has two weight divisions — 70kg and Under, and 70.1kg and Above; and physique category, with two height divisions — 170cm and Under, 171cm and Above.

Registration fee is RM50 per bodybuilding contestant, and RM30 per physique contestant. Only Sarawakians or Malaysians who have been living in Sarawak for more than one year are eligible to compete.

The contestants must also be those who have never taken part in any competition that is not sanctioned by the SDBWA, SBBA, or the Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation (MBBF).

“Sarawak-born athletes who are residing outside Sarawak are also eligible provided that they have never participated in events not sanctioned by SBBA or MBBF,” added Chia.
