Call for public hearing to discuss MA63 matters, PBK president tells DPM

Voon Lee Shan

KUCHING, Dec 21: Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof should call for a public hearing to discuss all issues related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), opines Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan.

Voon held that Fadillah, who was tasked by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to resolve MA63 issues by January next year, should not decide for all Sarawakians and Sabahans.

“I hope he (Fadillah) does not take the deliberation of matters in MA63 into his hands alone or let this be done by a small group of people because this involves the people of Sabah and Sarawak, whose lives, liberty and livelihood have been affected by this international agreement for the past 60 years,” said Voon in a statement today.

One of the subject matters that he deemed necessary to be discussed in the proposed public hearing is to determine the invalidity of MA63.

Voon has always believed that MA63 is null and void or invalid and should be revoked because at the time of signing the agreement, Sarawak, Sabah and Singapore were still colonies of Great Britain, and therefore had no legal capacity to enter the treaty. — DayakDaily
