KUCHING, April 30: The Bintulu Hospital received three ventilators today to assist and support the efforts of frontliners, especially the Ministry of Health, in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic.

The donation was handed over by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s special officer Steven Kong Kai Seng to Bintulu Hospital deputy director Dr Sivashunmugam Sangaran.

According to a statement, the three ventilators worth RM280,000 were contributed by Nirvana Asia Group executive chairman Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong to the Covid-19 Outbreak Fund launched by Tiong, which has received overwhelming response from members of the public.

Tiong expressed hope that the donation will inspire and encourage the Bintulu Hospital staff to continue performing their duties efficiently.

He also thanked the people for their strong support for the Covid-19 Outbreak Fund, especially Kong who has generously given his full support and contribution to the fund.

Meanwhile, Tiong, who is also the Prime Minister’s Special Trade Envoy to the People’s Republic of China reminded the public to continue to obey the Movement Control Order (MCO) as Bintulu has registered a total of 12 Covid-19 positive cases and is still showing an increasing trend in the number of cases.

“Observing MCO is crucial to assist the government in curbing the spread of Covid-19 infections so that the people can return back to normal life soon once the pandemic has subsided,” he added.

Tiong also noted efforts to address the Covid-19 outbreak were a shared responsibility and those who could afford so were encouraged to provide various forms of assistance and support for the frontliners and the needy. — DayakDaily
