Businessman detained, pesticide sprayers recovered in housebreaking case

MIRI, May 11: CID Miri personnel detained a 51-year-old hardware store owner and recovered 39 heavy-duty pesticide sprayers that are believed to be stolen goods from a shop, here, yesterday (May 10).

The 12.10pm raid was conducted following the arrest of eight local men from April 29 to 30 on suspicion of breaking into bird’s nest farms in Miri, Bintulu and Sibu.

Miri city police ACP Lim Meng Seah, when contacted today, confirmed that all the 16 litres sprayers costing almost RM7,000 were recovered from the hardware premises in Bandar Baru Permyjaya.

“We have detained the hardware owner to assist our probe into the case,” said Lim, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking. — DayakDaily
