Bush fire in Lawas village contained after 3-day Bomba operation

KUCHING, Feb 22: A bush fire in Kampung Banting Fasa 1 in Lawas has been successfully contained following a three-day extinguishing operation, as reported by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre today.

A call regarding the incident was received at 2.10pm on Feb 20, with Bomba Lawas being subsequently deployed to the location.

Various extinguishing techniques were used to control and extinguish the fire including total flooding, direct attack and water bombing techniques.


Apart from that, special equipment such as drones were also used to monitor the location of the fire before appropriate actions were taken to extinguish the flame.

This included utilising water sources from the nearby drainage to douse the fire.

A water bombing operation being conducted to put out the bush fire in Kampung Banting Fasa 1 in Lawas.

Bomba Sarawak also deployed its helicopter from Bomba Miri Air Based Unit to assist in the operation.

It was reported that the total area of land that was damaged in the fire is about 12 acres. — DayakDaily
