KUCHING, Apr 10: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has encouraged the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak to continue leveraging the latest technologies and emphasised the importance of adopting Agentic AI to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of project implementation.
According to a press release, this followed a courtesy call by the top management of JKR Sarawak to Abang Johari at the Satria Pertiwi Complex on Thursday (Apr 9).
The delegation led by JKR Sarawak director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris aimed to strengthen strategic relations between JKR Sarawak and the state’s top leadership, while also presenting updates on the progress of major infrastructure projects across Sarawak.
Cassidy also reaffirmed the department’s commitment to enhancing project implementation efficiency, strengthening governance, and ensuring that every development initiative delivers direct benefits to the well-being of the people.
He also stated that the department will continue to support the Sarawak government’s aspirations in developing sustainable and resilient infrastructure aligned with the State’s development agenda towards a brighter future.
At the same time, the Premier expressed his appreciation to JKR Sarawak for implementing key infrastructure projects, particularly the construction of major bridges.
He noted that the bridge development programme is timely and highly strategic as it reduces long-term dependence on diesel-powered ferries, thereby lowering operational costs and reducing carbon footprint. — DayakDaily
