KUCHING, Sept 23: The National Registration Department (JPN) is offering free replacements for damaged MyKad chips nationwide from Sept 23 to Oct 7, in line with the rollout of the BUDI Madani RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy programme.

In a TVS news report, Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the initiative, costing an estimated RM714,660 including related expenses, allows Malaysians to apply for replacements at all JPN counters and offices nationwide.

“On average over the past two months, we recorded around 43,000 applications for damaged-chip replacements each month.

“The Madani government is covering the full cost to ensure public access to subsidies is not hindered by technical issues with MyKad. Every eligible citizen will be able to enjoy the BUDI95 subsidy smoothly,” he assured in a statement on Monday (Sept 22).

He also reminded Malaysians to take good care of their MyKad, which not only serves as proof of identity but also provides access to various government services, including targeted subsidies.

“The Madani government upholds the principles of care and inclusivity, ensuring that every Malaysian receives the promised benefits without anyone being left behind,” Saifuddin added.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that under BUDI95, the price of RON95 petrol would be reduced from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre starting Sept 30, benefitting about 16 million citizens with valid driving licences nationwide. — DayakDaily
