Oct 18, KUCHING: A total of RM5.9 billion has been allocated for the development of Sarawak in Budget 2025, announced Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim while tabling the Budget in Parliament today.
He also announced that Sabah will be receiving a total of RM6.7 billion for its development fund.
Additionally, he shared that the Pan Borneo Sarawak project is expected to be completed next month (November), with both the Pan Borneo Project for Sabah and Sarawak having cost RM25.1 billion.
Anwar added that the government have also finalised four Sabah-Sarawak work packages Link-Road (SSLR) Phase 2 which is worth RM7.4 ringgit.
“Two (SSLR) packages have been awarded, while the remaining package (will be awarded) before the end of the year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Anwar also announced that the government has also agreed to implement the Expansion Project Miri Airport and the Tawau Airport, Sabah, with both totalling up to RM253 million.
The government has also proposed raising the levy threshold on extraordinary profits from oil palm to RM3,650 for Sarawak and Sabah, while for Peninsular Malaysia, it will be raised to RM3,150.
Additionally, the market price structure and crude palm oil export duty rate will be revised on 1 November 2024, according to Prime Minister Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The current service for crude palm oil exports from Sabah and Sarawak will also be maintained,” said Anwar. — DayakDaily
