Budget 2024: RM7.4 bln S’wak-Sabah Link Road Phase 2 involving 320km to start by end of 2023

KUCHING, Oct 13: The Sarawak-Sabah Link Road Phase 2 project, involving 320 kilometres and a cost of RM7.4 billion begin implementation by the end of the year.

This was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when tabling Budget 2024 at the Parliament today.

On the Sarawak section of the Pan Borneo Highway, it was his wish that it will be fully completed by next year while the tender process for the 19 packages of the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway Phase 1B involving 366 kilometres at a cost of RM15.7 billion will be completed this November.

Anwar explained that a well-connected road network will not only facilitate the movement of people, it will generate business activities, thus boosting the local economy.

For that, road networks and infrastructure connectivity will continue to be emphasised, he added.

Meanwhile, RM209 million will be allocated to subsidise air transport for rural residents of Sarawak and Sabah. — DayakDaily
