Budget 2023: B40 households eligible for cash aid of up to RM2,500, 18-20yos to get RM200 credit

KUCHING, Feb 24: Every household with less than RM2,500 income is eligible to receive Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) aid of up to RM2,500 depending on the number of children.

The government will also give an additional aid of RM600 to the hardcore poor STR recipient households according to e-Kasih data in the form of food baskets and vouchers for basic necessity items.


This means families in the hardcore poor group are eligible to receive STR assistance of up to a maximum of RM3,100.

The STR assistance was revealed by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim when tabling the revised Budget 2023 in Parliament today.

ā€œOverall, STR will help ease the burden of cost of living for 8.7 million beneficiaries with an allocation of nearly RM8 billion.

ā€œAlthough STR is associated as an aid to the B40, but taking into account the number of beneficiaries, STR has actually benefited more than 60 per cent of the country’s adults.

ā€œLast but not least, to 2 million youths aged 18 to 20, the government will offer e-Tunai Belia Rahmah credit amounting to RM200, with an allocation of RM400 million,ā€ he said. ā€” DayakDaily
