Brunei requests bigger aircraft for Chinese New Year flights from Kuching

KUCHING, Jan 13: Brunei Darussalam is requesting for bigger aircraft to fly between Kuching and Bandar Seri Begawan during the Chinese New Year season in view of the increase in passenger load.

Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said he had requested Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) to expedite the approval of Brunei’s application.

This is among the matters discussed when the Consulate General of Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Noni Zurainah, and Royal Brunei Airlines Captain Sabirin Abd Hamid paid a courtesy visit to Lee at Petra Jaya today.


Other issues debated were about facilitating the cross-border travel between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam at Sungai Tujuh between Miri and Brunei Darussalam and looking into potential collaboration areas.

Also present were Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer Sharzede Salleh Askor and respective representatives from the Consulate of Brunei Darussalam office, Brunei Darussalam Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, and Sarawak Ministry of Transport. — DayakDaily
