MIRI, Sept 28: A man who pretended to be a representative from an orphanage home in Permyjaya stole a donation box at an eatery here.
The incident took place on Wednesday (Sept 26) afternoon.
A surveillance camera in the premises caught the image of the thief.
According to a source, the individual said he was a representative of the orphanage, and requested to take the donation box on behalf of the orphanage.
The man promised the eatery manager that he would give back the donation box the next day. However, when he failed to return as of yesterday, it raised suspicions.
The manager then rang up the orphanage’s person in-charge, asking about the so called ‘representative’ of the home.
From the conversation, and a check on the premises’ CCTV, it was determined that the man was not from the orphanage.
A police report has been lodged over the matter. — DayakDaily
