Borneo International Kite Festival 2024 to soar over Bintulu from Sept 25–29

KUCHING, June 27: Mark your calendars for a spectacular sky show as the annual Borneo International Kite Festival (BIKF) 2024 is set to take flight from Sept 25 to 29 this year.

In a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Datu Muhamad Yakup Kari stated that the highly anticipated event will take place at Lasar Kenyalang (Old Bintulu Airport).

The festival is expected to be officiated at by Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

BIKF will bring together 170 participants from nine Malaysian states and 27 countries, promising a vibrant and diverse array of kites soaring over Bintulu’s skies.

Adding to the excitement, Pesta Tumbina will also take place from Aug 23 to 25, offering a prelude to the kite festival.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of attractions at BIKF 2024, including giant kite displays, sport kite performances, wind garden displays, the Inflatable Giant Mr King Kong, glamping experiences, the BIKF Parade, kite workshops, and much more.

In a show of strong community support, the Bintulu Port Authority (BPA) has partnered with BDA to co-host these events, contributing RM200,000 towards BIKF 2024 and RM50,000 for the Pesta Tumbina.

The mock cheques were presented by BPA assistant general manager (Corporate) Anuar Aikne to Muhamad Yakup, witnessed by senior BDA officials at Wisma Bintulu recently.

Muhamad Yakup expressed his hope that the international aura and image of BIKF would attract more visitors and tourists to the festival. — DayakDaily
