KUCHING, Nov 28: Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival 2.0 at Borneo Highlands Resort expects to attract some 3,000 festival goers from Dec 13 and 15, says its founder, Awang Saifeluddin.
Entrance to the biggest glamping event in Borneo is free, and there will be transport to ferry festival goers to the venue.
Awang added that there are limited glamping and camping lots left for local festival goers interested in the three-day-two-night festival.
“There are only 250 lots for the camping tents, and most are taken and now a limited number left but locals may still register.
“To ensure their safety, day trippers are expected to leave the venue by 6pm,” he revealed.
Awang said the festival aims to celebrate Sarawak’s rich natural beauty, cultural heritage, and innovative spirit.
“By hosting the biggest glamping event in Borneo, we aim to position Sarawak as a leader in eco-tourism and create a sustainable tourism product that attracts visitors from around the region and beyond,” he said during a press conference about the festival at the office of the Ministry Of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performance Arts at Baitulmakmur II Building here today.
Awang said first-time festival goers will have a unique experience and can take part in the many activities lined up which range from traditional workshops and outdoor sports to wellness programmes and live entertainment.
He further elaborated there are food vendors during the festival and public utilities are in place for the convenience of festival goers.
He added that festival goers may also set up a barbeque stove if they want to have their meals alfresco.
“There is something for everyone to enjoy,” he said.
Awang hoped the festival will create memories, strengthen communities, and showcase Sarawak to the world.
