KUCHING, July 20: The Borneo Fest 2024 programme, held for the first time in Singapore, have showcased Sarawak’s uniqueness to the people of the republic.
According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) chief executive officer Chew Chang Guan stated that the three-day programme, running until July 21 at Marina Square, aims to introduce Sarawak’s tourism and trade products.
“We have 21 sections, and 12 are from Sarawak, showcasing tourism and trade products, including mi kolok, laksa, souvenirs from Sarawak, and gula apong that you have never seen in Singapore.
“That is why we are holding this exhibition — to show Singaporeans that there are many tourism products on offer in Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
He shared these remarks with Ukas reporters while visiting the exhibition site at Marina Square, Singapore, yesterday (Friday).
Meanwhile, Mulu Park Tourism Service Assistant and exhibitor Lucy Belawing mentioned that Mulu National Park is one of the popular destinations among tourists from Singapore.
She said the Borneo Fest 2024 programme offer various packages to visitors.
“The peak season in Mulu starts in June, July, and August. There are usually many people because, at that time, it is a school holiday for Malaysia and Singapore, as well as Europe,” she said.
Another exhibitor, Borneo Happy Farm’s Marketing Assistant Patricia Audrey, highlighted that the park in the Bau area features a variety of interesting animal species that Singaporeans can see.
“We have the Painted Terrapin, which is a colored turtle species—one of the attractions in Borneo Happy Farm,” she said. — DayakDaily
