KUCHING, Sept 6: Sarawak’s largest electronic dance music (EDM) event, the Borderland Music Festival 2025, exploded into life last night (Sept 5) at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV), packing the venue to capacity as thousands danced through pyrotechnics, pounding beats and even a brief downpour.

From the moment the lights dropped, the energy was palpable. Unlike previous festivals at the SCV, where many concert-goers would stay seated at the back, last night everybody stood—a sea of fans on their feet, swaying, dancing, and refusing to sit down as the beats pounded through the rainforest amphitheatre.

Headliners Whisnu Santika, Wukong and Da Tweekaz kept the crowd roaring late into the night, their explosive sets matched with epic visuals, lasers slicing through the darkness, and fire bursts that lit up the stage. The Day 1 lineup also featured Fizz, Kyan Sma B2B Zack, DJ Paul, Jorl, Cyndi, Belle Sisoski, Yallo, Jovynn and Zapravka.

Mid-set, tropical skies opened up. Rain began to pour—a sudden but brief downpour that drenched the crowd. Yet, instead of dampening spirits, it only heightened them. Some fans pulled on raincoats; others simply raised their hands and kept dancing, soaked to the skin but unstoppable.
